Although the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed things down for artists in the country music industry, Jake Owen is thankful for the extra time he has been able to spend with his daughters.
Owen, welcomed his second daughter, Paris, into the world with his girlfriend Erica Hartlein on April 29, 2019. He appeared on the Bobby Bones Show Friday and said he has been able to take a different approach in raising his second child.
Back when his daughter Pearl was born, Owen said, “I was runnin’ and gunnin’ back at that time in 2012, you know ‘Barefoot Blue Jean Night’, was just starting to take off.” He added, “at that time it was have a baby and hit the road, she (Pearl) traveled everywhere with me and now this second time around it’s cool with this pandemic happening to spend every night (with Paris).” Owen, who’s had eight number-one singles on country radio, went on to say the second time around he’s been able to do things he never has done before with his family.
Owen is currently promoting his current single “Made For You” to country radio, which sits at 43 on the Mediabase Country Chart. In addition, he has been nominated for Video of the Year for this year’s Country Music Association Awards for his song “Homemade”. Owen says he has never performed on an award show. The 54th CMA Awards air on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. (Central) on ABC.
During his appearance on the Bobby Bones Show, Owen also spoke about his relationship with Mac Davis, who died after heart surgery last week, and his grandparents who live in Kentucky and inspired the “Homemade” music video.
